Very vivid. I lived that, didn't just read it.

You've probably been told this a million times...but looking back on my life, friends have come and gone...wives sure as hell have come and gone...jobs...apartments...life becomes a blur of faces and places...

But the blur stops, and identifiable faces become recognizable: Mrs. Perkins. Mr. Tegler. Miss Tate. Mrs. Davies. Mr. McEnstadt.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture: you're much more than a hero as a teacher, you become a legend. I envy and respect you more than I can say for this.

Have a good year.Arthur Willoughbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18123009851536675237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11979512.post-46203559196478210322008-08-25T18:00:00.000-05:002008-08-25T18:00:00.000-05:00Leab, Sorry I have been away for, a super long tim...Leab,
Sorry I have been away for, a super long time. I think I am back for good this time though...

I have to agree teachers are not heros, but they are to be respected and looked up to. I have been around teachers (parents, siblings and friends) who have been/are teachers all my life. There is no way I could do it. Honestly, there is no way I would want to do it. TOO MUCH STRESS. And I am not nearly patient enough. Teaching is a MUCH harder job than a lot of others, and I agree, people think it is easier than it is.

I just sense you are a great teacher, and am glad you love your job. Best of luck in this next school year. I will check back more often!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11979512.post-54445245828851984892008-08-25T08:28:00.000-05:002008-08-25T08:28:00.000-05:00You make a really great point about the difference...You make a really great point about the difference between being able to teach and being able to be a teacher. I think you probably could report. But it's different to do the job of reporter.

I spend a lot of time at work mentoring younger journalists. I speak at conventions, teaching seminars. Could I be a teacher? I don't think so. The teaching part is such a small percentage of the overall job. I picture that small time in the classroom as being the good part that makes a lot of the other BS worth it.

Good luck being back at school!Jason DeRushahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08884712185903834626noreply@blogger.com
