Some Days

Some days I get home from work and this is how I feel.
The hardest part of being a teacher is the part that no one ever tells you about when preparing for it: the personal investment.
You will put your heart and soul in to the students you work with. And sometimes, you get beaten down. Sometimes you have to forget who you used to be to get them through it.

And sometimes, you have to go the tough guy route.

I just need a little more energy. Just a little longer.

I totally understand what you mean. Big thing that I learned after my first few years teaching is that I have to keep something for me - no matter what that means, even if I don't feel like I'm giving enough. You only get one heart, Ironic -- it's your job to protect it so you can always have something to offer.

Hope things have lightened up for you.

Not many kids will appreciate all the hard work and time that teachers put in to help them but I do want to say this. Thank you for everything you did for me when I was your student. I know that at that time I was greatful to have a teacher like you, and I'm not afraid to say something about it.

Thanks Mr. Leab :)
